Why the current GOP is headed for extinction.  Short version: They don’t like Americans, and Americans don’t like them.

Does the GOP understand that women vote?

Democrats tore into House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) for preventing women from testifying before a hearing examining the Obama administration’s new regulation requiring employers and insurers to provide contraception coverage to their employees. Republicans oppose the administration’s rule and have sponsored legislation that would allow employers to limit the availability of birth control to women.

Reckon they’ll let the little ladies fetch lemonade for the parched throats of the distinguished gentlemen doin’ all that discussin’ of women’s personals?

The Extremist File (tasteless, as usual)

Fox News host Eric Bolling used a segment on Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) discussing banking regulations to compare her to deceased star Whitney Houston and mockingly suggest they were both on drugs.

“Congresswoman, you saw what happened to Whitney Houston,” Bolling said on Thursday morning’s edition of Fox & Friends. “Step away from the crack pipe.”

Lisa Chan, the actress in Pete Hoekstra’s China ad, apologizes.

“As a recent college grad who has spent time working to improve communities and empower those without a voice, this role is not in any way representative of who I am. It was absolutely a mistake on my part and one that, over time, I hope can be forgiven. I feel horrible about my participation and I am determined to resolve my actions.”

The “anti-government” party in Virginia, insists on a mandated invasive transvaginal ultrasound procedure on pregnant women.  It’s part of anti-abortion legislation.

The Extremist File (comedic version)

A so-called “sovereign citizen” in the state of Washington, just sentenced to 40 months in prison, has filed suit accusing the government and its agents of using poor grammar and writing at a second-grade level.

David Russell Myrland filed the civil suit in U.S. District Court in Seattle with help from David Wynn Miller, another sovereign who claims he became the “king of Hawaii” in 1996 after turning that state’s name into a verb. (For the record, Miller prefers the “full-colon” spelling of his name, David-Wynn: Miller. Like many sovereigns who don’t recognize most state and federal laws, he claims the government uses grammar to enslave it citizens. By using hyphens and colons in their names, he claims, citizens can escape the grasp of government and its taxes.)

Newt “declines” to release the documents concerning his House ethics probe.

The Extremist File Ted Nugent edition.

It’s not about religion.

Pusillanimous Catholics—Mark Shields and even, to a degree, the admirable E. J. Dionne—are saying that Catholics understandably resent an attack on “their” doctrine (even though they do not personally believe in it). Omnidirectional bad-faith arguments have clustered around what is falsely presented as a defense of “faith.” The layers of ignorance are equaled only by the willingness of people “of all faiths” to use them for their own purposes.

…Contraception is not even a religious matter. Nowhere in Scripture or the Creed is it forbidden. Catholic authorities themselves say it is a matter of “natural law,” over which natural reason is the arbiter—and natural reason, even for Catholics, has long rejected the idea that contraception is evil. More of that later; what matters here is that contraception is legal, ordinary, and accepted even by most Catholics. To say that others must accept what Catholics themselves do not is bad enough. To say that President Obama is “trying to destroy the Catholic Church” if he does not accept it is much, much worse.

Not much difference between Rick and Mitt:

Both signed the “cut, cap and balance” pledge that would require if implemented a shrinkage of the federal government to pre-Great-Society, and perhaps pre-New-Deal levels. Both endorsed Paul Ryan’s budget proposal. Both want big tax cuts, though Mitt’s naturally more focused on the corporate side of the equation while Santorum is interested in using the tax code for counter-cultural social engineering. Both would amend the U.S. Constitution to ban same-sex marriage and abortion.

The many, many ways Mitt is wrong about Detroit.  Some might call them “lies.”

The Extremist File  Allen West decries social safety net programs as “most insidious form of slavery today.”  More of West’s extremism here.
